An enjoyable time was had at the Wells St site on saturday as we met with the members of MyPower. They are four young guys cycling around Australia with the aim of promoting awareness of issues of sustainability. We kicked back, ate some good food and talked about the future. We plan more Bar-B-Que Saturdays so stay tuned!

Gathering the Ideas onto the main map

Vision Casting

by Fiona Robinson
On Saturday 24th May a group of us super keenies met at the Wells St site to think about and discuss the possible future shape of the site.

On a not too sharp 11am arrival (rain had appeared to stop some people arriving), Laura of the husky voice went through the remit of the shape of the site, what we weren't doing i.e. flattening and filling and that there had been some engineers last week who had raised their hands in the air at the enormity of the site and project.

Ben then handed out paper and drawing implements and told us to go away to other parts of the site and dream, but then to draw the dream down! So off we all wandered.

The site (to those who don't know it) is very interesting - dips and rises, flat areas and roads on both sides - Johnson St being noticeably noisy. The area is used by the occupants of Wells St as a short cut to other parts of town.

After some time we all gathered back together and Heidi was put in charge of transferring our thoughts onto a larger sheet. There was quite a lot that was similar, but different people had come up with different ideas as to what the site could be use for as well as accommodation.

I really enjoyed myself and came away sunburned - the rain had held off whilst we were there!
